About the smoke alarm

Inspired by a moth, the Jalo Lento 10 is a smoke alarm with personality. Finnish designer Paola Suhonen gave it a playful winged shape that children love, while an optical sensor inside provides serious, reliable smoke detection.

Its sealed battery lasts a full ten years and the whole surface is a test button, making checks easy for everyone. Pop one in a child's room, playroom or hallway – safety has never looked so good.

It earns its place in the kitchen and looks just as good on the dining table. Treat yourself, or wrap it up for someone who appreciates good design.

Caring for your smoke alarm

Wipe over with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry straight away. Avoid soaking, harsh detergents and scouring pads.

  • Landing, listed building feel

    Charlotte D. · 24 Jul 2026

Not actually listed, it just has that bare-bulb look. A standard alarm would have stuck out. This doesn't. Battery is sealed for years, so I'm done with it.

  • The moth cover is the point

    Kirsty M. · 26 Feb 2026

I wanted something that belonged on the ceiling rather than something we were tolerating. The moth is slightly odd and I like it. Quiet since it went up, which is correct.

  • Bought the moth after seeing the plain one

    Samuel M. · 11 Oct 2025

We fitted a plain fabric alarm in the hall and I wanted the landing to be a bit more fun. Same job. The cover is the only difference that matters day to day.
