The Jalo Kupu 10 proves that home safety can be beautiful. Its rounded, pebble-like form is wrapped in a soft white fabric finish that blends quietly into ceilings and walls, while an optical sensor keeps watch for smoke around the clock.
With a sealed ten-year battery there is nothing to replace, and pressing anywhere on the surface runs a test – ideal for elderly parents or anyone who struggles with tiny buttons. Add one to a bedroom, landing or garden room as a stylish backup alarm.
Add a calming, personal touch to a bedroom, bedside table or dressing table. Treat yourself, or wrap it up for someone who appreciates good design.
Wipe over with a soft, barely damp cloth and dry straight away. Avoid soaking, harsh detergents and scouring pads.
Jalo is a Finnish design company that reinvents home safety products — including smoke alarms — as objects you are happy to see on display.

The landing needed a new alarm and I refused another white disc. The fabric cover means you see it and then you don't. Ten-year battery was the practical reason. The look was the other one.

Two diagrams and you're on your own. If you've fitted an alarm before, fine. If you haven't, you'll still manage, but I did stand in the hall with the old one in my hand for a minute.

They had a yellowed plastic one in the hall from about 2004. Swapped it. Mum cares what the hall looks like more than she cares about smoke alarms, so this was how the alarm got changed.
