Privacy policy
Fab New Home (operated by Fab New Home) is the data controller for the personal information you give us on this website. You can contact us about your data at hello@fabnewhome.co.uk or by post at 82 Abbots Avenue, St Albans, Hertfordshire AL1 2LB.
What we collect and why
Orders. To take and deliver your order we collect your name, email, delivery address, optional phone number and the delivery option you choose (to perform our contract with you). Card payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card details. We keep order records for as long as the law requires (normally six years, for tax and accounting).
Sellers. Fab New Home is a marketplace: your order is fulfilled by the independent seller who supplies it. We share with that seller only what they need to send your order and handle returns — your name, delivery address, phone number (for the courier), the items and your messages about the order. Sellers don’t see your email address or payment details.
Messages and returns. Messages you send from your order page, return requests and contact-form messages are kept with your order so we and the seller can help you.
Emails. We send emails about your order (confirmation, dispatch with tracking, replies to your messages, return instructions) using our email provider SMTP2GO, which processes them on our behalf. If you sign up to our newsletter we also use your email for news and offers; you can unsubscribe at any time.
Google Customer Reviews. After you order, Google may ask whether you’d like to take part in a short survey about your purchase. If you agree, we share your order number, email address, delivery country, estimated delivery date and the products’ barcodes with Google so it can email you the survey; Google handles your answers under its own privacy policy. If you don’t opt in, nothing is shared.
Accounts. Creating an account is optional — you can always check out as a guest. If you create one, we store your name, email, password (securely hashed, never in readable form), and any phone number and delivery address you choose to save, plus your wishlist and any gift lists. You can update or delete your account at any time from “My account”; order records are kept for as long as the law requires.
Wishlists and gift lists. If you share a wishlist or gift list, anyone with the link can see the list title, date, message and products — and your first name. When someone buys a gift from your list we tell you their first name so you can thank them; we don’t share their address or email with you.
Enquiries. If you send us an enquiry for an age-restricted item, we keep your name, email, phone number, postcode, message and the items in your basket so we can reply and arrange your order.
Age checks. If you buy an age-restricted item (such as a knife), Stripe carries out an identity check using your photo ID. Stripe processes your ID document under its own privacy policy; we receive the result and your date of birth to confirm you are 18 or over, and keep a record that the check was passed.
Cookies
Essential cookies make the shop work and don’t need your consent: your basket (and, for gifts, which gift list they’re for), your saved wishlist and compare list if you’re not logged in, your light/dark theme, your cookie choice, and — only if you log in — one that keeps you signed in.
Analytics cookies (optional). If you click “Accept”, we use Google Analytics 4 (cookies named _ga and _ga_…, kept for up to 2 years) to understand how visitors use the site — for example which pages and products are viewed, what is added to the basket and when an order is completed. Google Analytics does not store your IP address, and we have turned off Google signals and advertising features. Google processes this data on our behalf and may transfer it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards. If you don’t accept, Google Analytics isn’t loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; if you withdraw consent we delete the analytics cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@fabnewhome.co.uk. We do not use advertising cookies and we never sell your data. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
